7/15/20 – 2020 Rodeo Canceled

We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. After much consideration, it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce must announce the cancellation of this year’s Comanche Springs Rodeo scheduled for August 27-29, 2020. (The Pageant is still pending – announcements about the status of the Pageant will be made at a later date)

Following increased concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented situation. We are very disappointed that we cannot hold this year’s Rodeo, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment to the community and the participants who were planning their visits to Fort Stockton.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly.

The uncertainty around event attendance limitations – how many can be in attendance, or even if we will be able to hold the event at all – makes the probability of having to cancel the Rodeo at the last minute much higher. This would cause hardships for many who have been working behind the scenes and making plans.

Our primary concern is the responsibility we feel towards the health and safety of our community. The well-being of our volunteers, partners, participants, and event attendees is critical. The number of out-of-town participants and attendees to this event is very high, and we want to help ensure that we all stay safe.

We look forward to bringing you the Comanche Springs Rodeo in 2021.
